I recently came across this amazing artwork from ornicar at ConceptArt.org. It features an image of Darth Maul attacking a Rancor. It is truly beautiful. Since I will be having a Rancor fight soon in SWX (oops, spoiler alert) , I figure that I would share one of my inspirations.

Old Star Wars X artwork

I’ve found some of our old artwork that was done a few years ago when we were first working out the ideas for Star Wars X. This artwork was done to test our ideas for a star wars webcomic. LOL! The artwork was not that great… I drew the artwork quickly and Dave colored it. You can see a very old version of Darth Morbis and Nai’Kage and We’ve gotten much better since then…

Nai’Kage Mask Sketches

The image above was a 5-minute sketch that I did to practice drawing Nai’Kage’s mask and scarf. I thought that I could have done a better job with Nai’Kage’s mask on panel 1 0f page 4. So I decided to work on the mask a little bit more. You may notice some similarities between Nai’Kage’s mask and the mask used by StarKiller in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Well, that’s because the inspiration for the mask came from Darth Vader’s Apprentice. I loved the mask that the guys at LucasArts used on StarKiller’s costume on Raxus Prime! It served as inspiration for the sketches above.

I just saw the latest artwrok for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2. Once again, the guys at LuscasArts have created some top-notch artwork. Still, I couldn’t help but notice the similarity between their artwork and my artwork…

Concept Art For Nai’Kage

When I first designed the character Darth Nai’Kage, I knew that I wanted him to have a cape like Strider Hiryu, but every time I sketched him out, he ended up looking like a Strider clone. After many frustrating days of sketching, this is the final sketch that was used for the concept of Nai’Kage.

Well, I’ve been hard at work trying to get our version of Darth Vader right. Here is a preview of Darth Morbis, the evil dark lord of the sith in Star Wars X. The problem with creating a sith Dark lord is that you never want him to look too much like Darth Vader… So far, I think that it is turning out ok… As usual, I appreciate all comments and crits.
